Dear partners and students of the Quality in Canada’s Built Environment research partnership,
The full verbatim transcripts and summary reports from the Halifax Convention, held in May 2024 at Dalhousie University is now available on the Living Atlas of Quality.
This is an unvaluable compendium of over 1,100 pages of captivating extensive discussions on quality!
The Halifax Convention focused on four key topics:
- Changing Personal Views on Quality
- Notable Outputs and Emerging Convergences
- Action Goals for a Roadmap to Quality in the Built Environment
- Public Debates and National Strategies
The event brought together 143 participants—including 55 scholars and professors, 25 citizen groups, 11 city professionals, and 52 students—across 10 dedicated rooms to delve into these critical issues. The result is a comprehensive set of 44 reports, consisting of detailed workshop-specific reports and plenary reports.
A group of dedicated students across Canada meticulously reviewed the recordings and prepared the full verbatim transcripts and summaries. These were then revised and formatted by the editors, Jean-Pierre Chupin (Scientific Director of the SSHRC Partnership on Quality), and two postdoctoral fellows, Maria P. Farfan and Morteza Hazbei, into a coherent and insightful document.
Please note that while the summaries underwent a thorough editorial process, the verbatim transcripts received a lighter revision due to the vast scope of the discussions, resulting in over 1,100 pages of content.
The documents contain rich discussions relevant to each of our 14 roadmaps to quality. We highly encourage partners to review the parts related their roadmap in progress to benefit from all insights.
