Rediscover the Program of the Calgary 2023 National Convention

The University of Calgary will host the Partnership’s annual convention on May 1-2, 2023, as part of the SSHRC partnership on quality. This year’s theme is “Quality through the lens of lived experience,” with a focus on positive experiences of quality in the built environment. The convention will open at 8:00 AM on May 1 at the SAPL Building on the Main Campus.

The convention will feature an Indigenous ceremony, summary reports on the progress made since the December 2022 online convention, and roundtable discussions on sharing positive lived experiences of quality. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in open discussions with members of the steering committee and hear presentations by partners on their work in the field. A highlight of the event will be two site visits, one exploring landscapes and urban design in the Riverwalk and East Village area, and the other examining the architecture of the Calgary Public Library.

The convention will conclude on May 2 with a closing ceremony and the announcement of the site for the 2024 in-person convention. In addition to the convention itself, there will be meetings of the Governance Board, Dissemination and Outreach Committee, and Graduate Student Committee on May 3. The convention promises to be an important opportunity for interdisciplinary and cross-sector discussions on the importance of lived experience in shaping our understanding of quality in the built environment.
