As the Implementation Plan for the National Policy on Architecture and Land Use Planning is adopted in the winter of 2022, Vivre en Ville invites you to a panel to reflect on the opportunities and challenges that will come with this reform of Quebec's planning framework.
Since 2015, the ARIANE alliance has brought together organizations and experts with a common vision: that land use planning and urban development become a priority in Quebec. Then, in January 2021, Municipal Affairs Minister Andrée Laforest launched a national conversation on land use planning and development that led to the development of the National Policy, which will culminate in an Implementation Plan in the coming months. Many civil society organizations from a wide range of backgrounds are working closely with the government on this process, including Vivre en Ville.
Ambitious action in land use planning will be essential to address the major challenges of today, including climate change, the housing crisis, the degradation of agricultural land and natural environments, and the enhancement of built heritage.
