The 2026 Interuniversity Charrette, presented by the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA) in partnership with Université du Québec à Montréal, Université de Montréal, and McGill University, is now open for applications. This annual design competition invites Canadian university students and recent graduates in architecture and related design fields to form teams and tackle a contemporary design challenge over five days.
The theme for this year’s edition will be unveiled at the online launch on March 11, 2026. Participants are tasked with developing a creative proposal in response, with submissions due by March 16 and an awards ceremony taking place at the CCA in Montréal on March 19, livestreamed for broader audiences. Teams may include undergraduate and graduate students (or recent graduates), with specific size limits depending on level. This event is a unique opportunity for emerging designers to showcase innovative ideas and engage with peers and professionals in a competitive, fast-paced setting.
